Since 2006, Foresters has stood shoulder-to-shoulder alongside KABOOM! helping end playspace inequity across Canada and the US. For 20 years, we’ve worked together to ensure that kids can have a place to be themselves in the communities they call home.
Not only are we celebrating our meaningful partnership this year, KABOOM! is also celebrating its 30th anniversary!
Together, we aren’t just pouring concrete; we’re building futures. Every playspace built is a commitment to the children who will play, grow and thrive there for years to come. It’s a shared vision, and one that is truly powerful.

Every playspace becomes a community energized. But there is still more work to do! We’re dedicated to continuing this joyful work and building more in the future.
Milestones in play: Snapshots of our favorite builds
The first builds that started it all
One opportunity to give children a place to play and grow turned into a lasting legacy! Foresters proudly partnered with KABOOM! to expand access to play for more children in need. In the first year of our partnership, we built four playspaces across North America from Moss Point, Mississippi, to Los Angeles, California, with the help of over 1,000 dedicated volunteers.
The adventure course
In a bit of a different building experience, Foresters and KABOOM! partnered to create the first adventure course in San Antonio, Texas. This unique playspace was geared more towards teens and promoted outdoor activity, friendly competition and meaningful social interactions.
Turning dreams into reality
Design days give local kids a chance to give their input on a playspace design. During these exciting days, children submit drawings of what they want in their new space, and KABOOM!’s team uses them to inform the overall design.
Our 100th build
In June 2014, Foresters proudly celebrated the 100th playspace build alongside our partner, KABOOM!. Foresters staff, members and the local community came together and marked a meaningful milestone, supporting more than 300,000 children annually through access to play.
How long does it take to build a playspace?
Our playspace builds often take around seven hours to complete. That’s all from the moment we show up in the morning until the last slide is in place!
