John Young retired as a Partner in Hogan Lovells, the international law firm, in April 2012 after 33 years with the firm and its predecessors Lovell, White & King, Lovell White Durrant and Lovells. He originally joined Lovell, White & King immediately following Law School, becoming a Partner in 1987, Senior Partner of Lovells in 2004 and (following the firm’s merger with the US firm, Hogan & Hartson) Co-Chair of Hogan Lovells from 2010 until his retirement from the firm.
In his professional life he advised the insurance industry for over 25 years on corporate and regulatory matters, leading the negotiation of well over 100 corporate transactions during his legal career. Under his leadership the Hogan Lovells corporate and regulatory insurance team became widely regarded as the leading UK team in its field.
John is now principally active as a Non-Executive Director in the insurance industry, as well as holding several similar roles in the charitable world.
