As a member-based organisation, Foresters has local Branch Councils led by member leaders, also called Branch Councillors, across Canada, the US and the UK. These Branches make up our Member Network, which works to support communities and help improve our organisation.

They rally people around important causes with grants, roll up their sleeves to support local volunteer activities, develop new lifelong skills and meet new people from all walks of life. Real stories from Foresters members
Food for those in need with U.S. Hunger
In the summer of 2024, member leaders from Canada, the US and the UK traveled to Orlando, Florida, to tackle an important ongoing problem, food insecurity. Working with U.S. Hunger, an organisation dedicated to helping feed people in need, Foresters made a huge difference for families living without regular meals every day.
Around 500 of our members packed 150,000 meals to celebrate Foresters 150th anniversary in just two hours. They packaged dry ingredients to make jambalaya, one of U.S. Hunger’s most popular menu choices. Once the meals were packed and ready, our members also helped load them into trucks for delivery.

During our 150th anniversary, we launched our BIG Give donation, where Foresters awarded a $/£50,000 donation in local currency to three member-selected charities.
UK
In the UK, the chosen charity was the Tuberous Sclerosis Association (TSA). The TSA was launched in 1977 and helps people living with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC), a rare genetic disorder causing non-cancerous tumors in organs like the brain, kidneys, heart and lungs.
A UK member submitted a video plea for the TSA after seeing the difference the charity made in the life of their nephew living with TSC. Their nephew struggles with the disorder daily, but in their video, our member showed just how much of a bright light their nephew is every day despite his ongoing challenges. They went on to tell us how the TSA supported them and thousands of other families. After hearing their incredible story, our judging panel awarded the charity the funds to help keep their inspiring work going.

Canada
You Can Ride 2 (YCR2) was selected as the Canadian charity to receive Foresters BIG Give donation. This meaningful charitable programme was started in Alberta in 2003 to help more children with different abilities discover cycling through lessons and the creation of adaptive bikes.
The charity was selected after our team was moved by a Canadian member’s video plea that showed how YCR2 helped him see his son’s abilities rather than his limitations. YCR2 is helping more children in Canada find the joy of bike riding and instilling more confidence in them regardless of their disability.

US
Over in the US, the Marjaree Mason Center received a Foresters BIG Give donation. Since 1979, this charity has been dedicated to providing emergency and long-term shelter for victims of domestic abuse in California. The Marjaree Mason Center also provides support services to help survivors feel empowered and rebuild their lives.
A Foresters member in the area sent a passionate video plea that instantly resonated with our team. They showed their firsthand knowledge of the charity and shared their compelling enthusiasm for the Marjaree Mason Center’s mission to create a safe space in their community.
Earning a Competitive Scholarship
Renai Jose is a Canadian student passionate about volunteering and encouraging others to do the same. Renai earned her $2,000 Foresters Competitive Scholarship through her ongoing involvement with charities and her volunteer programme, Nai’s Kindness Kitchen. Renai has helped organisations like The Giving Truck, which she co-founded, to empower youth to give back to their communities and inspire more kindness.
In her Nai’s Kindness Kitchen programme, Renai leads people through culinary tutorials and discussions around mental health. When meals are prepared, the programme delivers them to local charities, including Luke 15 House, which supports men recovering from substance abuse and addiction.
