The Foresters difference

At Foresters Financial we’re proud to help everyday families achieve long-term financial health and security. But we’re so much more than an international financial services provider. Through our heritage as a fraternal benefit society, we provide over one million members with access to valuable member benefits and an opportunity to give back through volunteering opportunities that directly affect local communities.

Every year, we share our financial success to improve family well-being for our global network of member families and the communities where they live. In 2015 alone, Foresters invested more than $21.3 million in member benefits including $2 million in competitive scholarships for students in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. We also provided almost $10.6 million towards community initiatives such as playground builds, beach cleanups, care packages and family fun days where our members can spend quality time with their families at no cost.

From our start over 140 years ago, we have helped families build financial security, help each other and make a difference in their communities. Almost a century-and-a-half later, this commitment still sets us apart. We’re not another faceless financial institution. We stand for something more.

Member leadership - Developing community leaders

At Foresters, we offer many ways for our members to develop their leadership skills. This could be as simple as applying for a grant to run a volunteer activity or, if you’re interested in even more involvement, you might consider nominating yourself for Branch Councillor.

Working within our 50 international Branches the elected Branch Councillors provide strong local leadership, helping to guide and support our impact in members’ communities. By participating in your local Branch, you can:

  • Develop valuable leadership skills for your personal life or career
  • Connect with fellow members who share your passion for community volunteerism
  • Be inspired by world-class speakers at our annual 3-day Leadership Development Conference, where Foresters takes all elected members to destinations such as Las Vegas or Orlando
  • Take part in a rewarding volunteer experience with a low time commitment.

Looking for something bigger? Our elected Regional Councillors focus on the long-term strategic direction of Foresters member network. You will help shape programs that enrich a member’s experience and participate in development opportunities like skill-building workshops and expert talks. Learn more about how our members are organized.
