Foresters Volunteer Leadership

Foresters member benefits help families like yours live for today, plan for tomorrow and make a difference along the way. These member benefits include competitive scholarships, disaster relief assistance and a terminal illness loan.

In addition to these benefits, as a fraternal benefits society, our members have unique opportunities to participate in Foresters volunteer leadership through volunteering in their community or participating in Foresters governance.

Volunteering is the cornerstone of Foresters purpose. Through volunteer leadership opportunities, our members have access to personal development, social interaction and participation in Foresters governance. Foresters volunteer leaders enhance the well-being of families by organizing member and community involvement events on a local level.

All Foresters members are assigned to a local Branch of our organization, closest to where they live. These Branches are run by volunteer leaders who organize family events, fundraisers and activities for the wider membership.

Branch leaders are actively involved in Foresters governance through our local and regional elections. They also play a large role in supporting our community partners. By choosing to become a volunteer leader, you could have an opportunity to shape the future direction of our organization.

Am I eligible to be a Volunteer Leader?
All volunteer leaders MUST have voting rights within Foresters. Non voting members may participate in Foresters community projects. Whether you are a “voting member” or a “non-voting” member depends on the type of Foresters product you have purchased.

Voting Member
Most Foresters members are voting members. You become a voting member if you are insured or are an annuitant under one of the following products issued by Foresters, and maintain your membership in force:

In the U.S. and Canada Canada only
Universal Life Insurance Segregated Funds
Whole Life Insurance Registered Income Funds
Term Life Insurance
Annuities

Non-Voting Member
You are a non-voting member if you purchased financial services products offered through Foresters but issued by others (third party products) and completed a membership registration form on or before December 31, 2006. Non-voting members are eligible for many Foresters benefits of membership, but cannot participate in Foresters Governance.

Please call the Foresters Service Centre at 1 800 828 1540 if you are uncertain about your voting eligibility.
