Each year, the Foresters Competitive Scholarship Program offers up to 350 scholarships for higher learning worth up to $8,000 each. Students of any age with grades from 65% (Canada) or a 3.0 grade point average (US) may apply. Foresters may also reward up to five applicants who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and extraordinary effort and ability to overcome adversity the Ken Peterson Award for Community Leadership. Ken Peterson scholarship winners receive $5,000 in the first academic year and $2,000 per year thereafter, up to $11,000 in total. More >

• Scholarship Grant on Death of a Parent
Scholarship Grant on Death of a Parent member benefit provides a scholarship for higher learning to help cover tuition and maintenance upon the death of one or both parents of a child. Scholarship availability and amounts differ by parental status and date of death. More >


• Orphan Member Benefit and Scholarship
Upon the death of both parents, the Orphan Member Benefit provides the guardian of the member’s children up to age 18, a monthly allowance that ranges from $270-$375 per child depending on the age of the child. The scholarship benefit provides the children with a renewable scholarship of up to $6,000 per year for higher learning for up to four years to cover tuition and maintenance. More >


• Medical Member Benefits
A lump sum or monthly grant may be paid, up to a lifetime maximum, due to diagnosis of certain critical illnesses for any one family member. More >


• Terminal Illness Loan
An interest-free loan is provided for an insured member who becomes terminally ill. The total loan can be up to 75% of the total amount of the Foresters life insurance on that insured. The maximum loan amount is $250,000. This loan will be repaid from the insurance proceeds payable upon the insured's death. More >


• Common Carrier Accidental Death Benefit
This benefit is available to members who are fare-paying passengers in the event of their accidental death resulting exclusively from riding, boarding or exiting from a public vehicle or aircraft. This benefit provides a grant of $100,000 for the death of the member who is the primary insured under the life insurance certificate. It also provides $50,000 for the death of the spouse of that member and $25,000 for the death of each dependent child of that member. More >


• Newborn Member Benefit
Newborn Member Benefit may provide a $5,000 grant when an eligible member’s newborn child does not live beyond six months of age and/or the eligible member dies within 31 days after giving birth. The benefit also offers up to $10,000 of guaranteed insurability on the life of the newborn. More >


• Senior Member Benefit
Living accommodations and a small monthly stipend at a Foresters-appointed facility may be provided to indigent Foresters members. More >


• Natural Disaster Relief
Emergency grants of $300 to cover basic needs such as clothing, food and shelter are available to help members and their families recover from natural disasters like hurricanes and floods. This money is considered short term emergency relief. The actual amount granted would be based upon the specific need of the household and may vary depending upon the type of disaster.
