Whole life insurance is more than protection for the family. The reason is easy to understand: it is built around the idea of cash value. The premiums never increase and the death benefit is guaranteed to be there when needed.
With a Forester Advantage plan, you enjoy the benefits of tax-deferred1 earnings. Cash value is the amount of money paid to the certificate holder if surrendered. The cash value is a real asset with real value that can protect you for your entire lifetime.
As cash value builds up, dividends can be declared annually. These dividends can be used in various ways:
- Paid in cash.
- Put into "dividends on deposit", which earn interest.
- Purchase "paid up additions", or additions to the life insurance certificate. This option means a larger death benefit and potentially more growth in the cash value.
- Applied to reduce premium
Later, when your certificate's death benefit is paid out, your beneficiary will generally owe no taxes on the accumulated
earnings2. (If you surrender your certificate, withdraw money or use loan provisions, taxes may apply. Ask your tax advisor for complete information.)
Your Forester Advantage certificate will also provide benefits for you and your family while you're still living. Whether it's a new home, a college education or an easier retirement, funds from your certificate are always available. Borrow up to the cash value for whatever you want. It's yours to use, no questions asked. (Bear in mind that loans from your cash value will reduce the death benefit of your certificate unless they are repaid prior to payout).
