On June 15, 16 & 17, thirteen representatives and their guests from SEUS Regional Council were honored to attend the 40th International Assembly in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Two of the main purposes of the Assembly were to elect the International Fraternal President and the Board of Directors who will serve for the next four years and vote on the proposed Constitutional changes.
We are extremely pleased to announce that Bernard Bloom was re-elected to his second term as International Fraternal President and Laraine Morris will serve as International Fraternal Vice President.
You may recall at our Regional Assembly in Orlando, eleven representatives from our Region, along with two alternates, were elected to represent you at the International Assembly. We were extremely pleased to learn that because of a membership growth of approximately 6,000 in our region since August 2008, we were entitled to two more representatives, thus bringing our total to 13 and allowing both our alternates to attend.
Along with the meetings, attendees were given opportunities to attend workshops and participate in either a Build-a-Bear project or a Playground Build at a local school.
As you can see from the pictures, there was fun to be had, too. In keeping with our nickname of SEUS Regional Council, we decided that SEUSS would be our theme for the Parade of Regions. A big Thank You goes to Karen Hughes and Elaine Crandall for all their work in putting the costumes together. On the last night, we celebrated Foresters 135th Birthday with a formal ball.
We are also extremely proud to announce that Regional Council President Ruth Rogers was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award (formerly known as the Grand Cross).
Those representing you were Ruth Rogers, Ben Hughes, Leon Ellis, Eddie Smith, Eileen Williams, David Baran, Dave Baran, Ken Marvin, Dylan Martin, Emery Palmquist, Russell Kirby, Karen Hughes and Chuck Rogers.
