Where did the summer go this year? Although the weather was not the best we have been used to I hope everyone found time to relax and enjoy the summer months.
Fall is the time of year that we see the fruits of our labours come to life from the seeds that were planted at the end of last year. At that time your Branch Officers made their plans for 2009 and we have seen some very successful events take place for you the members. We have taken part in Playground Builds, Build-a-bear workshops, Habitat for Humanity Builds, Ronald McDonald House meal programs as well as visits to the Zoo, Water and Amusement parks etc the list goes on. You can look forward to some fall events taking place (Please check the web-pages for locations) in the near future. Many Branches have been involved with local Community Partners and have help raise funds for very deserving charities. Foresters committed to build 2 playgrounds in Canada in 2009, one was built in Halifax in conjunction with the International Assembly held there in June and the other one was built in Brampton, Ontario. These Playgrounds are built in one day. I have had the privilege to have worked on both of these projects and it is amazing how everyone works together on the day and by late afternoon a playground is in place were there was just a bare site a few hours before.
All Branches will be holding Elections for new Executives between now and next April and we are all looking for new volunteers to come forward and help plan more events for our members. If you are interested in being more involved with your local Branch please check the webpages to see when the elections for your Branch will take place and contact the Nominating Chairperson to let them know you would be willing to be involved.
Please contact myself or any of the other Regional Council Officers if you have any questions or concerns.
