Annual Bowling for Miracles Tournament a huge success!

On behalf of the Ontario West Regional Council, with the assistance of Hope Branch, a heartfelt thank you goes out to all of you that help make the 2009 Annual Bowling for Miracles Tournament a huge success.

Branches who participated May 2 in raising funds were:

• Ontario West Regional Council                    • Keystone fundraiser
• Norfolk Teams 1 & 2                                    • Garden City
• Avon                                                            • Canatara
• Hope Teams 1 & 2                                       • Brantwood
• Keystone                                                     • Ambassador
• Niagara                                                        • Maple Leaf East Regional Council
• Skyway                                                        • Conestoga

Over the amount raised by the Branches extra donations were made directly to the Hospitals giving us a grand total $16,652.40. London Health Sciences Centre received $11,277 and McMaster Children’s Hospital received $5,375.40. Well done Foresters!

Some Highlights

The men’s high triple Peter Olthof 296 + 292 + 201 = 789, Norfolk Branch
Lady’s high triple Terri Lake 177 + 235 + 241 = 653, Garden City Branch
Men’s high single Al Gilliland 257, Ontario West Regional Council
Lady’s high single Ruth Cornish 194, Conestoga Branch
Most honest bowler Deborah Pusey, Hope Branch

Tournament Champions this year is Niagara 3889 pin fall. Runner-up Norfolk team # 1 3882 pin fall. Participation Trophy, hidden score went to Hope team # 2.

The competition between Maple Leaf East Regional Council and Ontario West Regional Council was taken by Ontario West at our May 2 tournament by 85 points. At the All Ontario Tournament on May 9 in Toronto that’s when Maple Leaf East overtook us even with Jim Slack getting the high single with handi-cap. Oh well a good time was had by all and there is always next year.
