Bernard joined Foresters in 1962. He held many Branch and Regional Council positions before joining the Foresters Board of Directors in 2000. He was elected Foresters International Fraternal President in 2005 and still holds that office. He was awarded the Grand Cross in 1989. Bernard is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and in his professional career held a number of senior positions with Sun Alliance Insurance Group until he became an Independent Insurance Consultant in 1992. He volunteers with a pensioners group and serves on the board of Children's Miracle Network UK. He has served as a Magistrate (Justice of the Peace) within the UK Legal system since 1981. Bernard and his wife Maureen, also an active Forester, have two children and three grandchildren and live in Southampton, England.
