John P. Meyerholz

John Meyerholz has been in the insurance business for 35 years, serving
over the years as General Counsel and Executive Vice President, with
responsibilities for the Law Department, Regulatory Affairs, Human
Resources, Corporate Services, Finance, Individual Insurance Operations,
Audit and Information Services. His most recent assignment was as President
and Chief Executive Officer of the International Insurance Society, Inc. in
New York from 1992-2001. In his role, he reported to a Board of Directors of
36 Chief Executive Officers of insurance companies from more than 20
countries. The Society is a not-for-profit organization with almost 1,000
corporate and individual members from 90 nations around the world. From
1987-1992, John was Executive Vice President and a member of the Board of
Directors of Home Life Insurance in New York. He joined the company in 1982
as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. He also worked as
Deputy Chief Counsel at the American Council of Life Insurance (ACLI) in
Washington, DC. The ACLI is the leading life insurance trade association in
the U.S. John started his career with the Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance
Company in Hartford, Connecticut. John’s community involvement includes
his current role as Trustee of Saint Barnabas Health Care System, which is
the second-largest employer in New Jersey. He is also Chairman of its Audit
Committee and a member of the Finance and Investment Committees. He is also
Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center
and a member of its Finance Committee; a Trustee of the Saint Barnabas
Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey, and a member of its Nominating,
Finance and Audit committees; and a Trustee of the Union Hospital and a
member of its Planning Committee. His interest in corporate governance is
reflected in his current responsibility as Audit Chairman of New Jersey’s
Saint Barnabas Health Care System, which is to implement the Sarbanes-Oxley
Act of 2002, making the hospital system among the first not-for-profit
organizations to voluntarily do so. John currently serves on Foresters
Board of Directors' Ethics & Governance and Human Resources & Compensation Committees. John lives in Short Hills, New Jersey,
with his wife Julianne. They have two daughters, a grandson and a
granddaughter. They are proud grandparents and are fortunate to have them
nearby. |
