Haitian American Community extends thank you to donors for disaster relief

March 4th, 2010

To: Irene Shimoda and Foresters' Leadership

Dear Donor,
Seven weeks ago Haiti shattered. It did not take long for you to hear our cries and offer your help. The Haitian American community would like to thank you. Our country has been struggling since its independence over 200 years ago and on January 12th, 2010, the very ground on which our people barely stood shook mercilessly. We were exposed. In a few seconds, our grief, despair and unmatched poverty turned inside out for the world to peer into. You opened your eyes and opened your wallets. As a corporation your capital is vital to you and you did not hesitate to deploy so much of this valuable asset and more to our small and needy country.

You saw our plight, took action and showed us what you are really about, humanity. This is not something we can forget. All of us in the Haitian American community, customers, partners and employees want to say thank you and hope you hear our gratitude as loudly as you heard our cry for help. The unprecedented way the business and corporate community came together for us is extremely touching. We have all lost someone dear to us in this disaster. With a death toll estimated at 200,000 no family was spared the pain of tragic and sudden separation with a loved one. Our country suffered a great loss, so, your willingly giving hands are not only greatly needed and appreciated they are also praised and respected. Thanks to your support we will surmount our hardships and woes and as we heal we will always remember how you cared. Thank you. Your kindness and generosity will always be remembered.

Sincerely
The Haitian American Community
