Foresters, a fraternal benefit society
Foresters is more than a life insurance provider. We’re a fraternal benefit society. That means we don't have shareholders. Instead, we invest in our members, their families and the communities where they live. Our purpose is to champion the well-being of families through quality life insurance,
unique member benefits and inspiring
community activities.
What is a fraternal benefit society?
A fraternal benefit society is a not-for-profit organization that offers insurance to its members. Its members share a common bond or purpose. It is organized in a system of lodges; we call our lodges “branches”. It offers mutual aid programs for the benefit of its members and the community at large.
Our Common Bond
For over 135 years, Foresters has been guided by a very powerful principle: the growth and prosperity of our members and their families are linked to the communities in which they live. Foresters has a rich history of investing in the financial security of our members and sharing with the communities in which they live. We protect our members directly through family financial products and services. We also invest in their communities, and give our members opportunities for personal development, social interaction and voluntary service to others. Together, we make a difference.
Benefits of Membership
Foresters members become part of a Foresters branch closest to where they live. They may enjoy Foresters-sponsored events and fun family activities. Eligible members can participate in the organization's governance matters, vote in the election of Branch Officers and provide input into decisions that impact their branch. They can participate in voluntary service, social and community efforts through their branch and its satellites.
Members may also gain access to complimentary
member benefits and other opportunities not usually available from traditional insurance providers. Depending on where you live, these benefits can include Foresters Competitive Scholarships, Orphan Benefits and Terminal Illness Benefits

Investing in Community
Each year, Foresters invests millions in supporting various community causes in Canada, the US and the UK. Through direct investment in national and local community partnerships, branch funding and educational scholarships, we make a difference. And, Foresters involvement goes beyond corporate donations — we get involved! Foresters provides opportunities for branches and members to participate in local community initiatives through our volunteer network. Members volunteer their time, expertise and passion in numerous charitable projects and events each year. Learn more about
